The Syracuse men's crew team is one of the longest reigning sports in the history of the University.
The first team took to the water in 1899. Over the past 100 years, the Orange have made their
home on Onondaga Lake and have competed around the United States and in the Royal Henry Regatta
in England. The tradition of Syracuse crew is outstanding and gives great pride to all those
who participate. In an effort to continue the strong tradition of Syracuse Crew, The Campaign
for Crew has been established to endow scholarship funds for the men's crew program. It is
essential to build the endowment base to ensure the future of the program.
Many people have made commitments to the Campaign thus far. Jim Breuer 72 and his wife Cathy
have made a leadership gift of $100,000 to establish The Breuer Family Endowed Crew Scholarship.
In addition, Athletic Director, Jake Crouthamel and the Department of Athletics have also
demonstrated a level of commitment to the SU mens crew team. For every dollar donated to a
crew endowed scholarship, one dollar will be matched for new equipment up to $300,000.
The Campaign for Crew is vital to the growth and future of the SU crew program. Information
on the campaign will be mailed to former letterwinners and friends in mid-April. If anyone
has questions, or would like to receive information, please the Orange Pack office
at 315-443-2149.
